# Identify the User by UUID

The `userUUID` path parameter identifies the particular agent you wish to change the state for.

In the query parameters, we are identifying the state we want to set the agent in. The `stateUUID` is the identifier of the state. You can retrieve a list of defined states and their associated identifiers by using the [Retrieve Defined Agent States](https://developer.khoros.com/khoroscaredevdocs/reference/retrieve-defined-agent-states) endpoint.
